Improvement
:) So I have finally taken care of everything car-wise. Jess was supposed to come to the mechanic with me as per tradition, but she didn't answer her phone and consequently, I was late and thus, avoided the mechanic and spent the day with Lauren and Charles running errands and job searching and talking about toys and games from childhood... does everyone remember Littlest Pet Shop, Polly Pocket, Cupcake kids, My Little Pony, Puppy Surprise or Playground Kids? I mean, aside from Lego, those were the best things ever!Anyway, so today Charles and I finished all my car stuff, which means we went to the mechanic, walked 60 blocks to and from the dmv, had subway and sat and talked for hours. Yawn. So sleepy... I keep waking up at all sorts of odd hours. Tomorrow I'm heading to to the beach and then to pick Carly up (yay she's home for the summer! Happy toy, btw). Thursday is mor ejob hunting at the mall w/Carly and maybe Lauren, and then Friday I'm seeing Fiddler on the Roof and Saturday- The Who. Should be fun. I<3 summer, and home. UNC is looking better - as they are giving me a laptop and financing all but $@000 of my education. I just hope Carly gets to go as well.

sorry i didnt answer the phone, no one was home to wake me up, and i set an alarm for 10:30 in the morning. unfortunately, being jet lagged and only recieving a half hour of sleep the night before, i must have slept through it (either that or it didnt go off). i then proceeded to sleep until 3 (12 my time), and when i woke up decided that you had probably already been the the mechanic. so sorry! hope to see you soon, seeing as i havent in over 4 months!
i dont rmember a littlest pet shop. or cupcake kids. or playground kids... i was really deprived. i enjoyed lego tho lolps. financing all but "$@000"?? Do u mean 2000?
Dear Marissa,Hi! This is Bryan, (majere344) and you left me a comment in my journal earlier today asking about UNC :)I can, without a doubt, tell you that it's the best place in the world. It is a small town compared to NYC but the University has 15,000 undergrads alone plus all the staff and other people that live in Chapel Hill. I know that sounds like something out of a brochure, but what I mean is that with all those people there is always something going on every day that you'll have fun at - whether it's something academic, some club, or a party. And since you're coming from NYC I think you'll find that the people at UNC are some of the friendliest you've ever met. It's got that whole "southern charm" attitude... people say hello randomly, smile at you, and when you tell them you're new to the place they fall all over themselves to help you :) It's really easy to make friends too because everyone's nice. And I'm sure it says somewhere on Carolina's website how many clubs and organizations there are... I have no idea, but I know there's something for whatever the hell you can think of.As far as the social life goes, you haven't been to a college party until you've been to Halloween at UNC. College kids from all over the southeast come to Chapel Hill for it. This past year we had 90,000 people come to town - and that doesn't count all the people that live in the area. They shut down Franklin Street and the whole town turns into one massive party. Everyone's in the craziest costumes you can think of... we had a guy dressed up as spiderman that made the cops climb a tree to get him down so they could arrest him... we had a "miracle of life skit" (I'll let you imagine what that was ;)... it's always a blast :) Pretty much every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday night there are at least 3 parties or socials going on at various frats, apartments, etc... Long and short of it is that there's never a lack of entertainment ;)Early fall and spring are my favorite times there because you can round up a bunch of friends and go lie down in the quads underneath the gigantic trees and eat lunch, play frisbee, read, what have you. Carolina's campus is one of the top 5 'most beautiful' in the country and it definitely lives up to the reputation. Supposedly our basketball team is going to live up to it's reputation next seaoson too ;) Our football team.... that's another story. But hey, we have a huge stadium for when they get good again. ;) I don't know what year you are, but I can give you some advice about good classes to take and profs to avoid if you tell me what you're thinking of majoring in and all that :) The academics are definitely no joke, but they're not impossible. I guess the best way to sum up Carolina is this: There's no one that goes to UNC that doesn't like it. :) I know at least 15 people that have transferred to UNC from other places and every one of them says it's the best thing they ever did. Anyways, I hope this helps! I'd love to get to know more about you, and I'd be happy to answer any questions or stuff like that :)Please feel free to email me anytime! It's bdkjones@email.unc.eduHave a great night!-Bryan
Sorry guy, but you've never been to a party until you've been to New Orleans. The whole city shuts down and turns into one big party for Mardi Gras. =PI'm glad to hear things are looking up for you Marissa. =) You know, if you think New Orleans is small you're going to be miserable in Chapel Hill. Trust me. I've lived in North Carolina. =P That's where I learned that the south will rise again! =PMuch love, regardless of what you decide to do.
yes.
I AM a 'My Little Pony', dude. See LiveJournal.
Well, I don't mean to start a big yankee/southerner debate... but most of my extended family lives up north and I have friends from High School that go to NYU and Columbia... they agree with me, there's just something down here in the south that is lacking in the north. I'm not saying northerners are rude or that they all fit the stereotype, I'm just saying that I (and most people I know) prefer the south. As for NYC, I've been. It's fun to visit, I'll give it that. ;)-Bry
hahaha, yea... you've got me there. But Halloween at UNC is all college kids. Mardi Gras is a lot more than just a college party. So I should have said you've never been to a /college/ party until you've been to Halloween at Carolina.-Bry
